25 | On June 15, 2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kari McWilliams conducted an announced case management visit that Licensee requested due to moving the school age program from the portables to the second floor of the Children's Building. The Children's Building hosts the infant and preschool license on the first floor. LPA McWilliams met with Director Lori Rogowski and toured the facility and a census was taken.
LPA McWilliams and Director Rogowski toured classrooms CH201/203, CH205/207, CH209/211, CH202/204, CH206/208 and CH210/212; in the horseshoe shaped second floor of the building. LPA McWilliams observed that the classrooms had appropriate tables, chairs and had two sinks in each classroom. LPA observed that each classroom had a moveable partition that could decrease the classroom size; Director Rogowski stated that those will not be closed and will remain open.
LPA McWilliams observed that the facility has one gender specific bathroom on each side of the horseshoe consisting of a total of 20 sinks and 16 toilets/urinals accessible to children. Each classroom has a water dispenser and single cup dispenser, the children will bring their own lunches, the facility will continue to provide prepackaged morning and afternoon snacks. There is a trash can with a tight fitting lid in each classroom that will receive food items.
There is one elevator on the second floor that staff will use care and supervision as well as the facility has place placards in front of the buttons and a cone in front of the door to make the elevator inaccessible to children.
The facility will continue to utilize the outdoor play area that is already licensed and the facility is not requesting a capacity increase, the capacity will remain 135. LPA did not observe any concerns or issues with the new classrooms and approved the new classrooms/building to be utilized by the facility. Director Rogowski states that the rest of the toys and supplies will be brought from the portables over the weekend and the classrooms will be in use starting June 19, 2023. |
