32 | Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Alexis & Heidi. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 911 square feet which will only accommodate 26 preschool children. Alexis amended her application during the inspection. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings right outside the classroom. There are enough tables, chairs, & cots for the newly requested capacity. The cots will be stored in the classroom. Applicant stated that quiet play time will be available for non-sleepers. Applicants understand that additional staff will be required.
Toys and equipment appear to be age appropriate. Alexis stated that bedding/sheets get sent home to parents to get washed every week on Friday or whenever necessary. There are a total of 2 toilets and 3 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate the newly requested capacity of 26 preschool children. There are two water fountains in the classroom. A water jug will be used for the outdoor play area.
The approximate outside square footage for the preschool area is 1,200 which will only accommodate 16 preschool children at a time. Alexis stated that she will stagger the children into two sessions and understands that no more than 16 preschool children will be outside at a time. Alexis understood. A waiver was submitted an pending approval. The preschool play area is gated, has grass, sandbox, bike path, and a mature tree that provides shade. LPA advised Alexis to trim the tree so it does not impeded visual supervision along with the bushes against the metal gate. Alexis stated that she will be removing wood stumps and a wooden sensory table. LPA observed plenty of toys that children can play since the center does not have a play structure. LPA reminded applicant to provide adequate supervision at all times.
A fire clearance for 30 preschool children was received and granted by the Kern County Fire Department on 10/25/2021. An amended fire clearance will be required to meet the newly requested capacity of 26 preschool children.
This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services – IMS.
