LPA reminded Licensee to conduct a daily inspection of all safety features and equipment before opening the facility and LPA verified that Licensee maintains a daily inspection log of the pool and safety equipment.
Upon inspection of the pool alarm, LPA observed that the pool alarm specifications do not meet ASTM certification standards. Citation has been issued. Licensee is to obtain and install an in-water pool alarm that is ASTM certified and verify that the alarm engages and functions properly.
Licensee stated that are no firearms or ammunition on the premises. No poisons were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible.
There are no fireplaces or open face heaters in the home. There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort.
This is a single level home and there are no stairs. Safe toys and play equipment are observed. The home has working telephone service and LPA confirmed the phone number.
Licensee ensures that children in care are supervised at all times and is aware children shall not be left in parked vehicles. The outdoor play area in the backyard is fenced and there are no hazards to children present. Capacity as specified on the license is being maintained.
LPA reviewed a sample of children’s files and observed files were complete with emergency information as required. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter Training was completed on 04/15/25. Although Licensee completed a CPR/First Aid course, certification was completed through a training program not approved by the Department. LPA reminded Licensee that training must be completed through a California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) approved training program, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross. Licensee understood and stated that she will complete the course through an approved training program. A review of records indicates that Licensee has immunization records on file for influenza, pertussis and measles.
LPA discussed the Community Care Licensing website www.ccld.ca.gov which will provide access to resources such as forms, regulations Provider Information Notices (PINs), and Quarterly Updates. LPA discussed Reporting Requirements as outlined in the regulations (Section 102416.2).
