25 | On 08/09/2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Paul Garcia conducted an unannounced case management visit and met with Licensee Irma Jimenez-Castanada. Irma Jimenez-Castanada was present in the home and was providing care and supervision to children. Licensee is Spanish Speaking and LPA Yesenia Fierro assisted with interpretation telephonically via face time. A tour of the facility was given, and a census was taken. LPA’s explained the purpose of the visit was to provide requested technical assistance / coaching on Safe Sleep requirements. Specifically, additional technical assistance on Safe Sleep Logs and to answer additional questions.
LPA’s explained in detail how to properly complete a Safe Sleep log and provided a hard copy example on and provided a demonstration on the procedure to complete a mock 15 minute check to insure a comprehensive understanding of the requirements. After providing Technical Assistance, LPA’s gave Irma Jimenez-Castanada two scenarios pertaining to documenting the required 15-minute checks when children are sleeping. Irma Jimenez-Castanada was able to accurately demonstrate documenting proper dates, times and initials on the log that pertained to our scenarios.
Next, LPA’s provided information on Safe Sleep guidelines and the practice of safe sleep for infants in care. LPA’s provided Licensee with handouts on "Safe Sleep Regulations Concepts", "Individual Infant Sleeping Plan", “Safe Sleep in Child Care” brochure and on "Reducing the Risk of SIDS and SUID in Early Education and Child Care and a handout on a upcoming webinars that relates to Safe Sleep. LPAs also provided Licensee with technical assistance of the CCLD website and the training's that are available to her.
Per Title 22 Division 12 Chapter 3 of the California Code of Regulations no deficiencies are being cited today.
