AD stated that staff, including themself, do not kiss daycare children anywhere, including on the forehead.
AD further stated that staff only hug children if requested by the children. However, AD did state that they previously kissed a child on the forehead one time, describing it as more of a “tap.” AD stated that they never received any notification of injuries from staff. However, AD stated that they were later notified by a daycare parent that their child had sustained bruises on their body, and AD was unsure whether the bruises occurred while the child was at the facility. AD also stated that the facility’s policy requires staff to notify daycare parents of any incident. AD stated that the children are not allowed to do whatever they want, including climbing on objects and jumping off them. AD further stated that the children are allowed to jump off a platform cube when supervised by AD.
Staff interview (S4) stated to have never heard of any incidents in which a child was injured due to a lack of supervision. S4 also stated that staff are to notify parents of any incidents involving their children. In addition, S4 stated that children were generally free to do as they pleased and were allowed to jump off objects.
According to Adults Interviews (A2 & A5) stated that they observed unknown bruises and cuts on their children and were never notified about these injuries by the facility. Additionally, Adults (A2 & A3) stated that they were informed by a staff member claiming that children can do whatever they choose, including jumping off objects. An interview from A6 stated that they observed a daycare child jumping off a bookshelf at the facility and that staff did not attempt to stop the behavior. No corroborating evidence was revealed to determine whether unexplained bruises occurred while at the facility.
Based on the information gathered during this investigation, although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the allegations occurred and therefore are determined to be unsubstantiated. There were no Title 22 deficiencies cited. Due to the facility being in inactive status, this report will be emailed to Area Director, Patricia Ryan (AD). Appeal rights were provided. |
