25 | On 08/08/2024 at 9:30 am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Elka Chavez, Susann Sanchez and Joshua Ortega conducted an announced Case Management inspection for the purpose of verifying the removal of the toddler component. Upon arrival, Licensing Staff met with Facility Representative Marisol Martinez Garcia. LPAs were informed that Assistant Director Loretta Gallegos had stepped away to a different school site. This facility is currently licensed as a Preschool program with Toddler Option Component with an overall capacity of 357 (341 preschoolers ages 2-5 in classrooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 11, 20,21,22,23, 41, 42, 43 and 44, and 16 toddlers ages 18- 36 months in classrooms 12,and 13). The Licensee, Norwalk La Mirada Unified School District, has requested to remove the Toddler Option Component from the existing license.
This is a Early Head Start\Head Start and State Preschool. The Facility hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 7:55am to 6:30pm. There were no children present during today’s inspection. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPAs observed the facility is no longer serving toddlers. Classrooms 1,2,3,4,6,11,12,13,20,21,22,23,41,42,43 and 44 will only serve preschool children 2 to 5 years of age. LPAs informed Facility staff that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities.
LPAs continued to tour the facility. Based on previous measurements taken on August 25, 2008, the total indoor activity space measured 14,408.45 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity.
