25 | On 07/31/2024 at 10:30 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Crystal Green conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. LPA met with Facility Representative Rebecca Jimenez Barlow. This facility is currently licensed as a preschool with a toddler option program with a capacity of 204 children: (192) preschool children from ages 2 until kindergarten in classrooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6; and (12) toddlers’ children from ages 18 to 36 months in Bungalow 9.
The Licensee, Baldwin Park Unified School District, has requested to increase their toddler capacity to (16) by adding an additional classroom called Bungalow 10 and decrease their preschool capacity to serve (144) children from ages 2 to 5 years old for a total new capacity of 160 children. Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 7:30am - 4:30pm.
Present during today’s inspection were 56 children with 10 staff. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Rebecca Barlow that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities.
LPA continued to tour the facility and measured new indoor activity space. Total indoor activity space for the classroom Bungalow 10 measured 422.01 square footage, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested increase in the toddler capacity. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via filter water dispenser. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 7/24/2024. |
