On January 16, 2025, at 9:00a.m., Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Keneisha Dunlap and Tyler Reyes arrived at the above facility for the purpose of a unannounced Annual Inspection. LPA Dunlap announced the purpose of the visit and was granted entry into the facility by Assistant Director- Marlene Colley. There were 49 children enrolled, and 37 children present, and 5 staff present at the time of inspection. This is a preschool program with the hours of operation Monday- Friday from 6:30a.m-5:30p.m. All adults at the facility were discussed and background and fingerprinted cleared. Licensee-Nancy Ahrens arrived at the facility at 1:10p.m.

LPA's observed all posting requirements for operation on the licensing board LIC 203A-License, LIC 610A, PUB 393 LIC 9040, PUB 269, LIC 9148, LIC 500, LIC 613A, Menus, Activity Schedule, and completion testing and remediated lead exceedances.


Documentation of current Fire & Earthquake drill was observed with last drill on 11/22/24.
Fire extinguisher(s) observed with a tag date of 11/27/24.

LPA's observed a operable smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors.

LPA's inspected the classrooms to be equipped with age appropriateness furniture and learning materials. Classrooms have library, manipulative play area, dramatic play areas, and arts & crafts area. Telephone service, heating, lighting, and ventilation were evaluated. Children do nap, and mats are placed in the staff lounge and classrooms. LPA's observed classrooms to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts.

Bathroom 1 & 2 has age appropriate sink and 2 toilets in each. Bathroom 3 & 4 has has age appropriate sink and 1 toilet in each. All bathrooms were in good working condition.

The isolation area is located in the Directors office.

Facility uses water bottles with children names and water is dispensed via water jug. Cups are cleaned daily. All electrical outlets are covered. All trash cans had lids. First Aid supplies were inventoried. Facility does not administer medication to any children at this time. All cleaning supplies and/or hazardous materials stored in cabinets and drawers with safety latches.

All food items are stored and with current expiration dates. The facility does provide breakfast, lunch, and snack. LPA'ss observed the kitchen area where food is distributed to be clean and organized. Knives are stored in drawer with safety latch. A roster of children names with allergies are kept in the kitchen.

The outdoor play are has climbing structure, swings, bikes, artificial grass on play area, and age appropriate tables and chairs. LPA's observed main care area to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts.

At 11:35a.m., LPA's observed a broken closet door on playground behind a trash bin. LPA Dunlap notified the Assistant Director that the broken door was a potential hazard to fall on someone. The Assistant Director stated that they would remove and place in storage area. The Assistant Director took the door and placed in storage area during visit. This poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care. Technical Violation will be issued.

Facility is reminded that smoking is prohibited on the premises.

maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Lead Testing

Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.

Licensee - Nancy Ahrens was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
