32 | All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. There are 2 restrooms inside the facility and one outdoors in the preschool play yard. In the restroom the toddlers occupy, LPAs observed a changing table with a mat that is at least 3 inches thick within arm's reach of a sink. LPAs also observed additional diapers, wipes and clothes available near the changing table for toddlers in care. There is drinking water accessible to the children in care via personal water bottles and water dispensers through out the facility.
At this time, the Director's Office is used as an isolation area. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill and staff are ensuring that children with obvious symptoms of illness are not being accepted
10:35 a.m. the outdoor playgrounds were inspected. The facility does have separate play yard for preschool children and toddlers, they are separated by a fence. Equipment for play yards are in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. LPAs observed multiple sand boxes in the play yards. Per directors, the sand boxes are covered every night the maintenance teams and racked. There is adequate shade in the play yarsd via snail shades. While touring the play yard, LPAs observed Staff 2 (S2) did not have Criminal Record Clearance. Per Director, S2 should be associated to the license. After LPA contact Licensing Office and Director contacted HR representative, S2 does not have Criminal Record Clearance. LPAs explained to the Director that S2 is not cleared to be around daycare children. S2 was removed from the premises at 10:57 am. S2 can resume employment at the facility once criminal record clearance has been granted.
At 10: 50 am LPAs observed the kitchen door open, LPAs then inspected the kitchen. Per director the children are in allowed in the kitchen area. LPAs advised that if the children are in the kitchen aera, all dangerous objects must be in inaccessible to children. The facility provides am and pm snacks, children bring their own lunch from home. All kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas are clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on and are in good repair. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are stored in an area inaccessible to children. The facility takes measures to keep the facility free of flies, other insects, and rodents.
