25 | On 09/27/2024 at 1:15 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Saul Valenzuela conducted an unannounced required inspection. LPA met with Principal, Robin Hurdle, who guided the LPA on a tour of the facility. This is a LAUSD preschool program located on the same block as Hobart Elementary School. This program is licensed for 121 children which operates Monday – Friday from 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM. Per the Principal there are 66 children enrolled.
All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. The following staff was present during this inspection: Green Room: Staff #1, Staff #2, Staff #3, Staff #4, Staff #5 and Staff #6 with 24 children; Blue Room: Staff #7, Staff #8, Staff #9, Staff #10, Staff #11, Staff #12, Staff #13 with 25 children, Yellow Room: Staff #14, Staff #15, Staff #16 with 6 children; Teacher-child ratios were observed to be in accordance with Title 22 Regulations. Staff names were recorded. All children were observed to be under supervision, including visual supervision, of a teacher always. The licensed facility is within the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license.
LPA observed the facility to be clean, sanitary and in good repair. Furniture and equipment were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. All indoor classrooms were inspected to ensure that the floors have a surface that is safe and clean. All toilets and washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic free. Currently, the front office is used as an isolation area. There are chairs and cots in the front office. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill, and staff are ensuring that children with obvious symptoms of illness are not being accepted.
