On 6/22/2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jillinda Chandler made an announced Case Management-Licensee Initiated, visit to the Los Angeles Southwest College CDC for the touring the school- age class room, the center is not increasing their capacity of 135 children. LPA met with Marcella McKnight - the CDC Program Director and a tour of the classroom was provided. The Licensee plans to use the classroom for the preschool program during the time when the school-age program is not in session. The school-age program will be on Inactive Status from 2/15/2023 until 6/30/2024. Days/hours of operation; Mon.-Thurs. 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM; Fri 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

LPA inspected the classroom and the following was observed:

Age appropriate toy and furniture
A restroom with 2 toilets and 1 sink, there was another sink inside the class room, LPA observed wide based stepping stools to assist children with accessing standard size sinks and toilets. There was a second restroom that has been designated for storage, the restroom was made inaccessible to children in care using an infant gate. Licensee provided an updated facility sketch to reflect the room being used for preschool and the date when in use.
The outdoor play area that the children will have access to, is accessible through the classroom. LPA observed 2 play structures and it was determined that the children shall have access to the three tier climbing structure with adult supervision, children shall not have access to the "Jacobs Ladder", Licensee shall devise a plan to make the structure inaccessible to children in care.
Based on todays observation the facility shall be granted the request to have temporary use of the classroom, licensee is also reminded that a new inactive request shall be provided every year that the room is being used .
