25 | On 1/17/25 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jeanine Lipsey conducted an unannounced follow up case management inspection due to an incident that was reported to the school on July 15, 2024. LPA arrived at the facility at 1:32PM and met with Principal Edita Kupelian, who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. There were sixty eight children being supervised by fourteen staff.
The incident date is unknown; however, it was reported to the Department on 07/15/2024, via telephone. The facility reported the Unusual Incident to the Department within the required 24 hours of occurrence. Information reported to the Department indicated that staff slapped a child and called them a “Bad girl”.
During the inspection, LPA obtained a copy of the facility roster, copies of interviews of 5 children and 2 staff from principals’ investigation, and LPA conducted interviews with the principal, 3 staff, and 3 children.
A child reported that a teacher slapped them and called them a “bad girl”. The teacher in question denied slapping the child or hitting any child. The principal and staff stated they did not witness a staff slap a child. The children interviewed stated they did not see a staff slap or hit a child. No statements were made to collaborate the incident. Based on the interviews conducted, there was no evidence to support the allegation reported. The department finds there was no deficiency in compliance.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Principal Edita Kupelian. A Notice of Site Visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
