On 07/31/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lisa Clayton conducted an unannounced Annual/Required Inspection at California Wiz Kids Child Care Center. LPA Clayton met with Lead teacher Elicia Johnson, and LPA Clayton spoke with Licensee/Director Janelle Jones by phone. LPA Clayton observed 15 children being supervised and cared for appropriately by 3 fingerprint cleared staff. Facility hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 5:30pm. The CCC provides morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, water and juice.

LPA Clayton toured the facility indoors and outdoors for a Health and Safety Inspection. Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained.

All children are under visual supervision of a teacher at all times. The CCC is in compliance with Title 22 regulations regarding Staff to Student ratios.

There are no pools, ponds, Jacuzzis, spas or any other bodies of water on the property. There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. All poisons are kept in a locked cabinet area.

LPA Clayton observed a fully charged 2A:10B:C Fire Extinguishers in the hallway between the 2 classrooms. LPA Clayton observed and tested 2 working smoke detectors (one in each classroom), and a working Carbon Monoxide detector in the kitchen.

LPA Clayton inspected napping equipment placement, bedding and storage for safety. Water temperature, toilet paper, paper towels, area safety and sanitation were inspected. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. LPA Clayton inspected the classrooms and observed age-appropriate toys, books and furnishings. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and are free of hazards.
