25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) R. Derraco conducted an unannounced required one year inspection to the above facility on 08/19/22. LPA arrived at the facility at 9:00AM and met with licensee, Sofia Valdovinos, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Also present during this inspection was an assistant S2. Per Licensee, there are 15 children that are currently enrolled. There were 4 children present upon arrival.
This is a one-story home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, front yard and backyard (fenced). The off limit areas include 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and front yard.
The main care area is located in the living room. LPA observed a couch, dining table, wall mounted television, 3 Graco feeding high chairs, a cubby locker for shoes, a pull down fire alarm, and a parent board. Emergency Disaster Plan, Parent’s Rights Poster and the Facility License were observed to be posted on the parent board. Licensee states that children have access to the kitchen. Knives and other sharp or pointy objects were observed in a cabinet above the microwave. Child safety locks were also observed beneath the kitchen sink making contents inaccessible to children in care. The licensee states that she provides food for children in care. LPA observed the dining area to have age appropriate toys, 2 wooden baby cribs, baby changing station, sleeping cots, and a wall mounted television. Per licensee, an extension of the dining room is used for storage of additional child care supplies. Bedroom 1 was observed to have additional age appropriate toys, toy bins for storage, additional sleeping cots/mats, children reading material and art supplies. LPA observed the backyard to have perimeter fencing, outdoor play equipment, a portable sink, backyard furniture and a locked storage shed. LPA did not observe any objects that can pose a danger to children in care. No bodies of water were observed in the back yard play area. Per licensee, she does not own any pets. Smoking is prohibited in a licensed Family Child Care Home. Per Licensee, no one smokes in the home. The bathroom designated for use by the children in care was observed to be clean with an operable toilet and sink.
