Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Martinez Garza conducted an unannounced Required 3-year inspection at the above facility on 08/14/24 at 01:20 p.m. LPA met with Maria Lopez, licensee who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. There were 04 children present during this inspection. Also present during this inspection was the licensee’s assistant/daughter Beatriz Lopez and licensee's granddaughter/assistant Stephanie Rivas. Per licensee, 11 children are enrolled. Operation hours are Monday through Friday 07:00am – 05:00pm.
This is a two story home which consists of 4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, living room, dining room, family room, kitchen, enclosed back porch, front yard, backyard (fenced). There are two separate entrances to the home; however, children only have access to the right side entrance as it leads to the main day care areas. Areas accessible to children include: family room (main day care area), dining room (day care area), 1 bathroom next to laundry room, enclosed back porch, and back yard. Areas off-limits to children and parents include living room, entire second floor, kitchen, and front yard. Licensee states, there are no pets on the premises. Per licensee, family members residing in the home are 2 adults and 0 minors. All individuals present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing, or volunteering in a licensed home and are identified on the attached LIC811.
LPA toured all areas identified on the facility sketch used by children during this visit and were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. Tour began in the dining room and family room where LPA observed safe toys, play equipment and materials for children. The dining room and family room are connected and both rooms have been converted into the main day care areas. LPA also observed appropriate napping equipment. LPA observed children napping on mats. Licensee also has cots stored in the back porch. LPA observed that the mats do not hinder the entrance or exit to and from the space they are sleeping in. Adjacent to the dining room is the kitchen and the enclosed back porch.
