Floors of all rooms have a surface that is safe and clean. LPA advised a comfortable temperature for children shall be maintained at all times. Furniture and equipment were observed to be maintained in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Tables and chairs were observed to be meet the needs of the children. All play equipment and materials used by children were observed to be age-appropriate. LPA observed individual portable storage units on wheels for children’s clothing, personal belongings and/or bedding. All materials and surfaces accessible to children, including toys, were observed to be free of toxic substances.
Drinking will be provided with the use of a water cooler observed in the Director office and with use of Brita water filers located in the classrooms. LPA advised per Health and Safety Code 1597.16(a)(1) Lead Testing and PIN-21-21-CCP Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their drinking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first test.
Per Written Directive 100700(c)(1) Written Directives for Lead Testing (1) For a license issued on or after July 1, 2022, initial testing results shall be received and posted within 180 days of licensure.
Per applicant a pest control service will used to assist in taking measures to keep the center free of flies, other insects, and rodents. All containers for use of solid waste were observed with tightfitting lids. No fireplaces or open-faced heaters were observed. Windows were observed as solid widows that do not open. Two window panels located at the top of classroom were observed in need of repair.
LPA advised disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that could pose a danger if readily available to children shall be stored where inaccessible to children. LPA advised storage areas for poisons shall be locked. LPA observed a current edition of a first-aid manual, sterile first-aid dressings, bandages or roller bandages, adhesive tape, scissors, tweezers, thermometer, and antiseptic solution.
A center shall be equipped to isolate and care for any child who becomes ill during the day. The isolation area was observed to be located in the director office to afford easy supervision of children by center staff. The isolation area was observed with a cot. LPA advised the isolation area shall not be located in the kitchen area or the general-use toilet area.
