25 | On February 20, 2026 at approximately 1:10pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Zaragoza and Nathanael Mooberry conducted a follow-up unannounced, case management visit to Warner Bros. Discovery Children’s Learning Center. LPA Zaragoza is conducting a visit regarding an Unusual Incident Report (UIR) that occurred on January 27, 2026. LPA met with assistant director, Mahnaz Arbab, and explained the purpose of the visit. Present during LPA's visit included 32 staff and 82 children present. Facility is operating within capacity limits and ratio during LPA's visit. Teaching staff present have fingerprint clearance on file. Childcare centers hours of operation are Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 6:00pm.
LPA conducted a visit in regard to the unusual incident report that was reported to the department. The unusual incident was reported on February 2, 2026. The incident involves 8 children and 11 staff. On January 27, 2026, one child was diagnosed with Influenza A, on January 28, 2026, three additional children were diagnosed, and on January 30, 2026, four more children were diagnosed, given a total of eight children diagnosed with Influenza A.
Per assistant director, during the time of the outbreak they contacted The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to report an outbreak. Per assistant director, the Health Department recommended that children over the age of 2 wear face masks in the facility and children with fevers of 99.5F or higher to be sent home. Per assistant director, the Health Department also required the AC to be always left on. Per assistant director, the Health Department provided them with resources and posters, which they sent out to families via email. Per assistant director, during outbreak they steamed washed carpets, cleaned the facility thoroughly, stopped family style dinning, sanitized, disinfected, stopped combining classrooms, and children with symptoms were sent home. Per assistant director, hand washing was enforced. Per assistant director, they let families know via email about the outbreak and any new cases.
Per assistant director, 11 staff members experienced symptoms but only 1 staff member had a confirmed case of Influenza A. Per assistant director, when staff experience symptoms, they would be sent home or would take a day off. Per assistant director, when staff members return to work, they were required to wear a face mask at the facility.
