25 | On July 22, 2021 at 11:27 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brigitte Tsutaoka conducted an unannounced annual/random inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of inspection and was granted entry by Assistant Director, Gina Quessenberry who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Upon arrival, LPA observed five classrooms in use with a total of 44 preschool children and 8 teachers on the premises. The hours of operation are 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM Monday - Friday. The center also has an Infant Program (197401076) and School-age (197401075) Program. (Not included in counts, but staff associations verified.) Incidental Medical Services (IMS) were discussed.
Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. All rooms are clean and safe. Telephone service was verified. Heating, lighting, and ventilation are adequate. There are cubbies for children's belongings labeled with their names. LPA observed age appropriate toys and materials. Drinking water is available inside the classrooms in the form of disposable plastic cups and water jugs. LPA observed a sufficient quantity of cots available for napping children. The bedding is stored separately and properly. The sheets and blankets are washed daily or sent home daily to wash at home. Cots are sanitized daily. There is a fire extinguisher (checked 2/23/2021), smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector on the premises.
LPA inspected and observed four clean bathrooms (7 toilets, 7 sinks). Toilets and sinks are functioning properly and are age appropriate. LPA observed soap, toilet paper, and paper towels readily available. Water temperature is appropriate. LPA observed staff during lunch and nap time.
Children are inspected for illnesses as they arrive with a no-touch thermometer and an overall wellness check. A review of medication policy indicated that prescription medication is administered only with parent's written permission. The Director and other administration staff administers medication and documents the dosage, date, and time onto a log. Medication is brought and locked at the center (unless parent request daily return). Medication is properly labeled and stored in its original container. Medication is kept at the center until expiration date and it is sent home with the parent for disposal. |
