On 07/15/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lisa Clayton arrived at the Child Care Center unannounced to conduct a Case Management – Licensee initiated inspection. LPA Clayton was greeted by acting Director Ana Flores. LPA Clayton observed 37 children in care being supervised by 9 fingerprint cleared staff.

LPA Clayton toured the CCC inside and outside for a Health and Safety inspection.

LPA Clayton was informed of the construction at the CCC as follows: the construction started on 7/15/2024 and expected end date is 8/26/2024. “In summary, we will be removing the concrete area at the main entrance and sidewalk area at the existing ADA parking area (at the main entrance of the school), removing and replacing the four trees at the main entrance, and removing the two trees at the ADA parking nearest the main entrance. The objective is to remove the uneven concrete and replace it to maintain a proper ADA-compliant slope. We will reconfigure the ADA parking to accommodate a van-accessible ADA parking spot, creating a total of three ADA parking spaces. This will include adding detectable warnings at walkways to the parking lot area and re-striping the parking spaces in the center of the parking lot. The planter next to the building will remain and is not part of the scope of the work. There will be dust control measures in place and the site will be kept clear of debris. We will try to perform quieter tasks during nap time; nonetheless, it is a construction project and there may be some noise at times. We will do our best to be mindful that we are working in a childcare facility environment.”

As described in the correspondence sent to parents, during the construction, drop off and pick up will be at the Kitten Classroom emergency gate. The drop-off time will be from to 8:00am – 9:15am. There will be a staff member at the gate, greeting parents and children. After the scheduled drop off time the gate will remain closed and locked. At pick up time (4pm – 5pm) there will be staff posted at the gate to greet parents. The children enrolled in Kitten classroom will be participating in ‘Indoor activities” in the during drop-off and pick up hours. Parents were advised to contact the main office if they need to make special arrangements for drop off and/or pick up.

LPA Clayton observed parents being greeted by acting Director Ana at the Kitten Classroom emergency gate and walking their children to their respective classrooms.

LPA Clayton took photos and observed the construction area to be gated off, and inaccessible to children in care.

Per Title 22 Regulations and Health and Safety Codes no deficiencies were cited today.

An exit interview was conducted. A copy of this report (LIC 809) and Notice of Site Visit were provided to acting Director Ana Flores. Notice of Site visit must remain posted for 30 days.
