LPA observed telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation to be satisfactory. Children have adequate cubby storage for their belongings in each classroom. The parents provide sheets and blankets and laundered weekly or more often if needed. Age appropriate restroom, sinks(3) and toilets(4) were inspected for good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, safety and sanitation. All available toilets and sinks are in operable condition. Bathrooms were found to be clean. There is adequate lighting/ventilation in the bathrooms.
Children are inspected for illnesses as they arrive. A review of medication policy indicated that Medication is administered by the director or teachers, who documents the date, time and dosage onto a log. Medications are stored securely and inaccessible to children. There is a separate area for isolation and care of ill children in Principal's office. There is a cot available for each ill child. An isolated toilet and sink are available for ill children.
Director states that parents provide lunch and snacks daily. Prepared lunch ( Ali's Catering) is available when parents sign up. Food is available in the event a child's lunch is forgotten in Principal's office and in the classrooms. The chemicals are kept separate from the food. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible.
Outdoor play equipment, bicycles and toys were observed to be in good condition. The outdoor yard consists of an open cemented area for bicycle play and there are tables and benches where children eat meals. The rear yard and a smaller yard near the preschool room have covered patios that provide outdoor shade. There is another yard at the front of the classrooms consisting of grass and a small cement area for play houses. This area has shade tarps. |
