32 | LPA inspected the kitchen and observed it to be maintained in safe, sanitary, and good repair condition. LPA observed that knives are stored in kitchen top cabinet, making them inaccessible to children in care. Cleaning compounds are stored in top cabinet. Medication is stored in a kitchen cabinet high up. Licensee stated she provides breakfast, snacks, and lunch for children in care. LPA reminded licensee that if children bring their own food, it must be properly sealed and labeled with child’s name.
LPA inspected the front yard for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and play equipment that were in good repair. Front yard fence all around. Shaded areas are available for children's use. LPA observed two play structured with rubber padding underneath. . License stated children don’t use the play structure off limits by being blocked with other toys and supervision when children are playing outside. Per licensee and LPA observation there is no pools/bodies of water on premises.
Licensee stated there is no smoking in the home. Per recorded documentation Fire/Disaster drill last completed 01/06/26. Licensee stated she has completed emergency drills, but she did not document them. Technical Violation issue. Per licensee, there are no weapons/firearms on the premises.
LPA review a sampling of children’s files at the time of the inspection and facility roster. LPA reviewed Assistant file. LPA observe licensee’s First Aid/ CPR AED dated 11/16/24 licensee has the wrong first aid/CPR. Mandated reporter certificate dated 10/9/25.

Licensee Morena Barrera was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
