Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Lady King-Lewis and Liana Stepanyan conducted an unannounced Annual Inspection. LPA met with Director, Aimee Ward and toured the infant 1 head start and infant 2 and outdoors. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM. - 6:00 PM.

All children are under supervision, including visual supervision, of a teacher at all times. There is a ratio of one teacher supervising no more than four infants in care. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. No poisons were observed during the inspection.

Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Hand washing sinks are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. The facility is free of flies, insects and rodents. There is a working carbon monoxide detector. The facility has sufficient age appropriate furniture, and equipment including cribs, cots, a changing tables that is arm distance from the sink and feeding chairs.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed facility representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Facility representative was reminded Prior to working or volunteering in a licensed child care facility, all all adults 18 and over, are subject to a criminal record review have received a criminal record clearance, transfer or exemption. Upon notification from the Department, the licensee will comply and act immediately to terminate the employment of, remove from the facility or bar from entering the facility for any person it is deemed necessary while the Department considers granting or denying an exemption. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained. At least one person trained in Pediatric CPR and First Aid is present when children are at the facility or at offsite activities. The person who signs the child in/out of the facility uses their full legal signature and records the time of day. LPA reviewed a sample of children’s files contained contact information for authorized representatives or others who can assume responsibility if the authorized representative cannot be reached.

LPA observed that all children’s files contained a medical assessment. LPA reviewed staff files and observed files were complete with health screening, immunization records for influenza, pertussis, and measles, and current documentation of completed mandated reporter training. The name of the child care center director or fully qualified teacher(s) designated to act in the director’s absence has been reported to the Department

This facility does provide Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Currently the facility is not caring for any child the needs IMS.
