32 | The outdoor play area in the front yard is fenced. LPA observed no hazardous items that can pose a danger to children in front yard. During inspection, licensee informed LPA of small pond located in off-limits backyard area. Per licensee, pond is typically empty, but due to rainy weather is filled with water. LPA observed outdoor pond filled with water. LPA observed outdoor pond barricaded by metal whiteboard easel. LPA consulted with licensee regarding PIN 23-17-CCLD. Per licensee, pond was not part of original facility sketch. Per licensee, pond to be drained of water and inaccessible to children in care. A type B citation issued. Per licensee, front yard is only on-limits outdoor play area. LPA collected updated outdoor facility sketch indicating current on-limit and off-limit areas.
LPA reviewed 6 children’s files and observed files are updated and maintained. A review of staff records indicates that licensee has updated mandated reporter certificate with expiration date of 7/2024 and updated CPR/1st aid certificate with expiration date of 8/2024. Per staff record review, LPA observed two staff with updated CPR/1st aid certificates with expiration dates of 11/2025 and updated mandated reporter certificates with expiration dates of 12/2025 and 6/2025. Per staff record review, LPA observed one staff missing updated immunization record for measles, pertussis, and TB clearance. A type B citation issued. LPA reviewed the following documentation to be kept in facility: facility license, LIC610A, facility fire drill logs, PUB 394, and LIC9040.
Licensee Polk was advised that regulation prohibits the smoking of tobacco in a private residence licensed as a family childcare home during the hours of operation. LPA reviewed with Licensee Polk items prohibited in FCCH, no baby bouncers, no infant walkers, No Johnny jumpers, no saucer chairs, and any other item that falls into that category are not permitted in the facility.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
