On January 22, 2025, @ 3:35 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Devon Carus, conducted an unannounced Case Management Inspection and was met by licensee, Ziba Esteva. Currently, the above daycare has 14 children enrolled. LPA toured the home inside and outside and a census was taken. At the time of the visit, there were 10 children present. Current facility sketch reviewed, and Licensee confirmed that the kitchen is off limits and made inaccessible via child safety locks. This One-story home was inspected as follows: Day care bedrooms #1 and #2, kitchen, back yard area, and one bathroom. All poisons are kept under the kitchen sink and in the laundry room which is inaccessible to children in care. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. Medication is kept in a first aid kit in near the kitchen sink out of reach of children. There is a working fire extinguisher (2A-10BC), smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. Safe toys and play equipment are observed. LPA confirmed the available cell phone number is 3105486729. The indoor play area is in the living room, and bedrooms #1 and #2. The children reside here while in care. There are locked doors, keeping the children in the day care area. The Daycare is open from 7:30am-6:00pm Mo-Fri. Daycare has mats for resting/ sleeping. Capacity as specified on the license is being maintained. LPA observed an in ground pool with a 5 foot safety gate. Licensee’s pediatric CPR/First Aid expires on 5/1/2025. A review of records indicates that all employees and/or volunteers have immunization records on file for influenza, pertussis, measles, and Tuberculosis.
LPA observed a 5 foot fence around the pool, but did not observe a swimming pool cover or alarm. The pool gate is self-latching, self-closing and opens away from the swimming pool. No windows or doors have direct access to the pool area.
LPA reviewed AB 2866 with licensee for update to pool safety requirements. (1 Type B citation was issued) See LIC 809-D .
