Licensee confirmed the day care is provided in the living room and dining room area. LPA observed children’s books, children’s dramatic play are and a variety of age appropriate toys. LPA observed children’s high chairs and two pack and plays.
Bathroom that children use located at the rear of the home was inspected. LPA observed and inspected the toilet, sink and bathroom area. LPA reminded licensee to ensure all toiletries are made inaccessible to the children in care and/or while children are present.
Families access the day care through main entrance of the home. Upon entry, LPA entered the living room area, designated as day care space. LPA observed a parent board with all the necessary postings. Next to the living room, the dining room area, designated as day care space was observed and inspected.
Kitchen was observed and inspected; area is only use as a walk way to access the bathroom.
Home provides meals and snacks. LPA discussed the importance of maintaining a system where allergies and food restrictions are noted. LPA encouraged licensee to contact their local resource and referral agency, Crystal Stairs, to inquire about the different resources and professional development opportunities available.
The licensee was informed that any changes to ages, hours and days of operation shall be submitted to the department via signed LIC 279, for approval prior to initiation of changes.
Licensee confirmed that home is available to take in children that need incidental medical services. LPA discussed incidental medical services with Licensee. Prescription medications shall be administered in accordance with the label directions as prescribed by the child’s physician. Medication should be in its original content with current prescription with all necessary LIC forms completed.
LPA observed licensee test the smoke detector and carbon monoxide in the home. A working fire extinguisher was observed in the kitchen area. LPA reminded licensee that fire extinguishers need to be service annually and proof of such service needs to be available for LPA’s review. All electrical outlets were observed to be covered.
Licensee confirmed that fire drills and earthquake drills are completed. Per drill log, home completed a drill on July 28, 2026. LPA recommended Licensee to add additional information such as number of children and time drill was completed. Each family child care home shall conduct fire drills and disaster drills at least once every six months. The licensee shall document the drills, including the date and time of each drill. This documentation shall kept at the family child care home.
