LPA observed knives are stored in the upper cabinets of the kitchen. Per licensee, household medications are stored in the licensee’s room and no medications are being provided to children in care. Licensee stated that she is enrolled in a food program, and she is providing meals and snacks to children in care.
The facility is a one-story house. The fireplace is in the living room of the facility and is covered with a cardboard, iron fence, and a bookshelf. The home has central heating and air conditioning units.
Based on records review, the fire/earthquake drills were conducted last July 19, 2024, at 12:30 P.M.
LPA observed safe and age-appropriate toys, puzzles, crayons, books, learning materials, small table and chairs, and television. Licensee provides 4 sleeping cots for children to use and are stored inside the garage.
LPA observed the first aid kit box is places on the top shelf of the cubbies.
Licensee is advised that baby bouncers, saucer chairs, or any recalled and or banned toys or sleep/ play equipment are prohibited on the premises. Licensee is advised to check for fixture, furniture and equipment that have been banned or recalled by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Bathroom: Toilet, sink and faucet were clean and operable. LPA did not observed razors and/or sharp objects, shampoos, mouthwash, medications, perfumes, air freshener, nail polish and nail remover that will pose a health and safety risk to children in care. LPA observed a step stool inside the bathroom.
Licensee stated that when a child shows signs of illness, the child is separated from other children in bedroom #1 of the facility.
Outdoor: The outdoor play area has a covered patio and is made of concrete. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and equipment. LPA observed a playhouse, swinging chair, tables, chairs, tricycles, basketball hoop, hula hoops, empty inflatable pool for small children, and a retractable umbrella at the outdoor play area. Licensee was advised to empty inflatable pool after every use. Licensee has a fishpond at the backyard and an iron fence is used to separated it from the outdoor play area. The gate leading to the pond has a lock to make it inaccessible to children in care. |
