LPA observed safe and age-appropriate toys, puzzles, crayons, books, learning materials, small table and chairs, and television. Licensee has 4 sleeping cots and are stored inside the garage. Licensee stated that the children do not nap in the facility. Instead, the children do quiet time or watch movies. Licensee also provided the first aid kit box to the LPA during this visit. LPA observed a small dog during this visit.
Bathroom: Toilet, sink and faucet were clean and operable. LPA did not observe razors and/or sharp objects, shampoos, mouthwash, medications, perfumes, air freshener, nail polish and nail remover that will pose a health and safety risk to children in care. LPA observed a step stool inside the bathroom.
Licensee stated that when a child shows signs of illness, the child is separated from other children in bedroom #1 of the facility.
Outdoor: The outdoor play area has a covered patio, and it is made of concrete. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and equipment. LPA observed a playhouse, tables, chairs, tricycles, rideable toy cars kitchen toys, and a retractable umbrella at the outdoor play area. Licensee has a fountain in the backyard, and an iron fence is used to separate it from the outdoor play area. The gate leading to the fountain has a lock to make it inaccessible to children in care.
At the time of inspection, Licensee is aware of the requirement to report unusual incidents and/or injuries to the parent/guardian and Licensing on the day of the incident and/or 24 hours of incident by telephone, fax and/or in writing to the Department. Licensee is familiar with the Unusual Incident Report form, LIC624B. The report on unusual incident/injuries can also be mailed to unusualIncidentreport@dss.ca.gov
Review of records to be maintained: LPA reviewed with licensee the LIC 311D, Forms/Records To Keep In Your Family Child Care Homes, children’s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted. LPA reviewed five children’s files and licensees’ files. Based on records review, child 4 and child 5 do not have immunizations on file. Licensee stated that they just started today and that the parent provided a note for each child stating that the parent decline to have the children vaccinated. LPA told the licensee that exemption from religious beliefs no longer applies. LPA discussed with the licensee that prior to admission to a family day care home, children shall be immunized against diseases as required by the California Code of Regulations, Title 17, beginning with Section 6000. At 11:47 a.m., the two children were picked up by the parent. The licensee told the parent that the children need to have immunizations. Licensee has current mandated reporter training and pediatric CPR/First Aid training. Licensee has a doctor’s note on file dated November 6, 2017, stating that her vaccinations are updated. Licensee has TB skin test on file.Based on the Facility Roster, licensee has seven children enrolled in the day care. Licensee conducted the fire/earthquake drills were conducted on May 15, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. |
