above the sink and secured with a child safety latch. Household medications are also stored in the upper kitchen cabinets and secured with a magnetic lock. Licensee stated that no medications are provided to children in care. Licensees stated that licensees are enrolled in a food program and licensees provide meals and snacks.The facility is a one-story house. The fireplace is in the living room of the facility, and it is completely covered with wooden furniture. The home has central heating and air conditioning units.
Safe and age-appropriate toys, dolls, kitchen set toys, puzzles, manipulative games, crayons, and other toys were observed during the inspection. LPA also observed a diaper changing table, sleeping mats, and cribs in the facility. LPA observed the first aid kit box is stored under the kitchen sink.
Bathroom: Toilet, sink and faucet were clean and operable. LPA did not observed razors and/or sharp objects, mouthwash, medications, perfumes, air freshener, nail polish and nail remover that will pose a health and safety risk to children in care. LPA observed step stool, trash bin with cover, potty training seat, and liquid soap with dispenser.
Licensee stated that when a child shows signs of illness, the child is separated from other children in the living room of the facility.
Outdoor: The facility has no body of water on the premises. LPA did not observe body of water in the backyard. The outdoor play area has a covered patio and age-appropriate toys and equipment. LPA observed a playhouse, slides, swing set, tables, chairs, tool shed, tricycles, basketball hoop, and empty water play tables. LPA advised the licensee, Sonia Pena, to empty the water play tables after every use. Per licensee, other detergents are stored inside the tool shed in the backyard.
At the time of inspection, Licensee is aware of the requirement to report unusual incidents and/or injuries to the parent/guardian and Licensing on the day of the incident and/or 24 hours of incident by telephone, fax and/or in writing to the Department. Licensee is familiar with the Unusual Incident Report form, LIC624B. The report on unusual incident/injuries can also be mailed to unusualIncidentreport@dss.ca.gov
Review of records to be maintained: LPA reviewed with licensee the LIC 311D, Forms/Records To Keep In Your Family Child Care Homes, children’s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted. LPA reviewed eight children’s files, licensees, and assistant’s files. Based on records review, children’s files are complete. Licensees and assistants have current mandated reporter training and pediatric CPR/First Aid training. Licensees and assistants have proof of immunizations against Measles and Pertussis. Licensees and assistants have TB skin test on file. Based on the Facility Roster, licensees have twenty-two children enrolled in day care. Based on records review, the fire/earthquake drills were conducted last April 3, 2026. |
