On 05/09/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lisa Clayton conducted an unannounced Required 3 year Inspection for the Child Care Center. LPA Clayton met with Coordinator Monica Simon and Site Facilitator Yael Redding-Knott . LPA Clayton observed 6 infants being supervised and cared for appropriately by 3 fingerprint cleared staff, and 9 toddlers being supervised and care for by 2 fingerprint cleared staff. Facility hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided by the Santa Monica School district cafeteria.

LPA Clayton toured the facility indoors and outdoors for a Health and Safety Inspection. Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained.

All children are under visual supervision of a teacher at all times. The CCC is in compliance with Title 22 regulations regarding Staff to Student ratios.

There is an in-ground swimming pool on the campus, which is in a locked building, and off limits to children in care. There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. All poisons are kept in a locked cabinet area.

LPA Clayton observed each classroom to have fully charged 4A:80B:C Fire Extinguishers and working carbon monoxide detectors. The CCC has a pull Fire Alarm System, with pull alarms in each classroom. The smoke alarms are connected to the Fire Alarm System.

Changing tables within arm's reach of a sink, sinks, potty training chairs and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair. The feeding tables, changing tables, napping equipment placement, bedding and storage areas were reviewed for safety. Water temperature, toilet paper, paper towels, area safety and sanitation were inspected. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. LPA Clayton inspected the classrooms and observed age-appropriate toys, books and furnishings. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and are free of hazards.
