25 | On July 31, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kris Diaz, conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection. LPA met with Licensee, Gumercinda Martinez who granted access and guided LPA on a tour of the home. People who reside in the home are Licensee, her spouse, her adult son, and her adult daughter who are live scanned and have TB skin test on file. The large family childcare home operates 23 hours, 7 days per week. Licensee was advised that a staff member must always be awake while children are awake. At the time of the visit there were 9 children present with 3 staff members.
This is a two-story home with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, family room, living room, laundry room, and garage. Children have access to living room, family room, downstairs bathroom, dining room (for lunch only), and backyard. Off-limit areas of the home are the entire upstairs including all bedrooms, kitchen, laundry room, and garage. Off-limits areas are made inaccessible with safety gates and safety knobs. LPA observed an accessible kitchen. Per licensee, children do not go into the kitchen area and are escorted and supervised when eating or passing through to access the backyard. There is no swimming pool/body of water on the premises. LPA observed 3 dogs in the backyard behind a locked gate inaccessible to children. Per licensee, vaccines are kept up to date.
The home was inspected inside for comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating, and ventilation. Medications are stored in the master bedroom inaccessible to children. The kitchen knives are stored in an upper kitchen cabinet inaccessible to children. Cleaning compounds are stored in the kitchen/bar area inaccessible to children.
The First Aid kit is located in the family room near the cameras inaccessible to children. Per licensee, there are no weapons or firearms in the home. LPA did not observe any weapons or firearms. Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are in operable condition. The Fire Extinguisher is green, fully charged, and meets the standards of the State Fire Marshal. The licensee’s Pediatric CPR/First Aid expires on 12/25.
