32 | Per Reporting Party (RP) on 6/15/25 around 7:30am, child#1 (C1) was dropped off and handed to the staff in their arms. RP stated the child was given to the staff with no injuries. When the child was picked up around 5pm, Staff #1 (S1) informed RP that C1 had a bruise on their forehead. Staff suggested angrily, the child was dropped off with the bruise because no children were injured that day.
Per the doctor’s report, the child was diagnosed with minor head abrasion. Per google an abrasion is a superficial injury to the skin caused by scraping or rubbing. Per the photo, the child had a red marks on the forehead about ½ inch in size, somewhat covered by the child’s hair.
Per staff, at drop off, C1 was given to Staff #2 (S2) in their arms with a blanket, and a bruise was not seen. Staff stated normally children are checked for injuries at drop off and sometimes injuries are seen when children return from the weekends. Either they notice it or the parents let us know what happened. Per staff injuries are not documented but discussed verbally with the parents. During play time, S2 disclosed that S1 showed them that C1 had a rash on their face and asked S2 had they seen C1 fall, S2 stated the child was playing and if he/she fell they would have informed them. S2 stated the child was happy and playing all day and did not cry.
Per parents interviewed, the children are well taken care of, there are no concerns, and they have not seen any unexplained injuries on their children.
On two separate visits 7/1/25 and 10/3/2025 LPA observed the staff to be hands on with the children, playing with them on the floor and did not observe children being injured. NO disclosure was made to support the allegation.
Based upon evidence obtained during this investigation, the allegations “Day-care child sustained an unexplained injury while in care”, have been determined to be unsubstantiated. A finding that a complaint is unsubstantiated means that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred.
Notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Licensee Eva Sanchez.
