stated that she owns no firearms and no one smokes in the facility. LPA observed cleaning products are stored in the garage (off limits). LPA observed knives are stored in the upper shelf of the kitchen cabinets (off
limits). LPA also observed household medications are stored in the garage, and no medications are currently being provided to children in care. Licensee is enrolled in a food program and licensee provides meals and snacks to children in care.The facility is a two-story house. All rooms upstairs are off limits, and a metal gate is used to barricade the entrance upstairs. There is a fireplace in the facility, and it is covered with a glass door and metal fence. The home has central heating and air conditioning units.
LPA observed safe and age-appropriate toys, board games, puzzles, books, kitchen set toy, building blocks, tables, chairs, cubbies, highchair, crib, and other learning materials. Licensee provides fourteen sleeping cots for children to use during nap time. LPA observed the first aid kit box is stored in a plastic container in the garage. Electrical outlets are covered with safety plugs.
Bathroom: Toilet, sink and faucet were clean and operable. LPA did not observe razors and/or sharp objects, shampoos, mouthwash, medications, perfumes, air freshener, nail polish and nail remover that will pose a health and safety risk to children in care. LPA observed paper towel inside the bathroom cabinets.
Licensee stated that when a child shows signs of illness, the child is separated from other children in the living room of the facility. Licensee stated that parents are called immediately.
Outdoor: The facility has no body of water on the premises. LPA did not observe body of water in the backyard. The outdoor play area has a covered porch and age-appropriate toys and play equipment. The outdoor play area is partly made of concrete and grass. The outdoor play area has safe age-appropriate toys and play equipment. LPA observed toy house, slides, table, chairs, and little toy cars.
At the time of inspection, Licensee is aware of the requirement to report unusual incidents and/or injuries to the parent/guardian and Licensing on the day of the incident and/or 24 hours of incident by telephone, fax and/or in writing to the Department. Licensee is familiar with the Unusual Incident Report form, LIC624B. The report on unusual incident/injuries can also be mailed to unusualIncidentreport@dss.ca.gov
Review of records to be maintained: LPA reviewed with licensee the LIC 311D, Forms/Records To Keep In Your Family Child Care Homes, children’s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted. LPA reviewed two children’s files, licensee, and the licensee’s assistant files. Based on records review, the child 1 has missing LIC627 Consent for Emergency Medical Treatment. Licensee and assistant have current mandated reporter training and CPR/First Aid training. Licensee and assistant have completed immunizations against Measles and Pertussis. Licensee and assistant have TB skin test on file. |
