25 | On 7/18/2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Loyce Phillips conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and was met by Licensee, Patricia Castillo. LPA observed 7 children in care with 3 staff members. All adults in the home have criminal record clearance. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm. Licensee provides breakfast, lunch, dinner and am snack.
LPA toured the home inside and outside. This is a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom home with living room, dining area, kitchen, laundry area and covered carport. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. There are no firearms or ammunition stored on the premises.
The areas that are accessible to children: Living room, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom #3, laundry area and outdoor covered carport. The children have access to the covered carport for outdoor play. LPA observed age appropriate toys, learning materials and equipment indoors and outdoors.
The areas that are off limits to children: Bedrooms #1 and #2 are made inaccessible by door locks.
No poisons were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible to children. The home has a heater located in the hallway inaccessible to children. LPA observed cots for napping. LPA observed a first aid and emergency kit. There is a full charged fire extinguisher located in the hallway. The facility has a working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detector, inside the home. The facility has adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. The home has working telephone service and LPA confirmed the phone number is 310-487-5538.
Licensee ensures that children in care are supervised at all times and is aware children shall not be left in parked vehicles. Car seats are used for transportation purposes only and are not used for sleeping children. Capacity as specified on the license is being maintained.
Licensee’s pediatric CPR/First Aid was completed on 3/9/2023 and Mandated Reporter Training completed on 1/26/2022. 809-C.
