| On 07/20/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Shandra Powell conducted an unannounced case management visit. LPA Powell was met by Lead Teacher due to Director absence. LPA Powell informed Lead Teacher about the purpose of the visit and was guided on a tour of the facility. There were 13 children in attendance with 3 teachers during today’s visit.
The facility has been identified to have 2 water outlets with an Action Level Exceedance (ALE) in the amount of lead in the water being 5.5 ppb, or greater. The purpose of today’s visit is to ensure that faucets are not in use and there is another source of water for children and staff at the facility.
On 07/19/2023, LPA Powell contacted Director Maria Garcia via telephone and informed Director of the testing results. LPA also provided Lead Teacher with the Written Directives in PIN PIN 21-21.1-CCP for Lead Water Testing and the lead testing report to be posted in facility to meet the results requirement. Facility was also given a copy of the Effects of Lead Exposure pamphlet to be given to parents/representatives of children.
Director provided LPA with a copy of the results of lead water sample testing conducted by Enthalpy Analytical Environmental. Testing was conducted on 06/05/2023 and samples were received by the laboratory on 06/13/2023. Per the report, the following water outlets yielded the following results:
1.) Sink Faucet A (inside classroom 1):6.4 ppb
2.) Drinking Fountain B (hallway): ND
3.) Water Filter C (Inside kitchen (L): ND
4.) Sink Faucet D (Inside of Room 5): 6.3 ppb
LPA Powell received the following documents via email on 07/19/2023: External Water Sample Self-Certification Form (LIC 9275), Signed and dated Child Care Center Sampling Checklist Form (LIC 9276), Facility Sketch (fully labeled with locations of all water outlets). During inspection LPA observed Faucet A and Faucet D fully covered and signs posted out of order do not use.
