32 | According to staff Interviewed during the course of the investigation, children are not yelled at, they are spoken to. Staff stated that the Montessori is quiet that when you talk in a normal voice, it can sometimes sound loud.
According to children interviewed during the course of the investigation, children stated that they like their teachers and their teachers are nice to them. Children further stated that their teachers do not yell at them and they are not scared of their teachers. One child stated that their teachers yell when they need them to listen but it is not scary.
According to parents interviewed during the course of the investigation, Parents stated they have never observed children being yelled at but have observed staff loudly gathering children and saying things such as "lets go" to the entire group.
-Pertaining to the allegation that – Staff punishes day care child.
According to the Reporting Party (RP), RP stated that per child, another child has to sit on the outside bench a lot during outdoor play time. RP is unsure why. RP believes child is being punished.
According to staff interviewed during the course of the investigation, children are spoken to and never punished. Staff stated that they are given the opportunity to think about what happened and apologize or speak about what happened. Staff stated that sometimes when they do need to have a seat for safety reasons, for example, if children are spinning on the swings, they are asked to sit on the bench for one minute to help calm down. The same thing happens inside of the classroom if needed.
According to children being interviewed during the course of the investigation, children stated that they do not get in trouble at school and that their friends do not get in trouble. Children further stated that their teachers are nice to them.
According to parents interviewed during the course of the investigation, Parents stated they were happy with the Child Care Center (CCC). Parents stated that they have never observed children being punished or disciplined.
Based on the evidence as documented above, the allegations have been determined to be Unsubstantiated. A finding that the complaint is unsubstantiated means that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the allegation occurred.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, WIRATUNGA, KUMARINI. |
