32 | Age-appropriate sinks and toilets were observed and inspected for availability and good repair. LPM and LPA observed that Room 1 and Room 2 have 2 toilets and 2 sinks located in between the classrooms. The licensee requested a waiver for the use of restrooms.
Per Principal, there is a boys and girls restroom located down the corridor pass the library in which children can use. Per Principal, preschool staff will ensure that no school-age child is in the restroom prior to preschool children utilizing the restrooms. Preschool children will be supervised by preschool staff at all times.
LPA observed that facility has a carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector, and a serviced fire extinguisher.
Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other items that are dangerous to children, are inaccessible to children and stored in a closet. Principal states that poisons are locked in the hopper room.
This program provides breakfast and lunch. A weekly menu was available and posted.
Per Principal, meals are prepared in the cafeteria and carted over to classroom by staff. Children have all their meals in the classroom.
All kitchen areas/food preparation areas and food storage areas were observed to be clean and are free of litter, rubbish, rodents, and/or any other vermin. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids. The facility was observed to be free of flies, other insects and rodents.
Outdoor playground equipment is in a safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. LPM and LPA advised Principal that the children need to be within the direct care and supervision, including visual supervision of the teacher(s) at all times. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. LPM and LPA observed a section of the cushioned patting to be torn near the exit of the slide that could become a tripping hazard. There is adequate shade in the play yard. Availability of outdoor drinking water was observed.
