On 07/13/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Adrian Risher conducted an announced Case Management visit for the purpose of an inspection for a proposed capacity increase. LPA met with Araceli Herrera, Licensee and toured the facility inside and out. The facility is applying for a capacity increase from 8 to 14. Upon arrival, there are 6 children in care. Hours of operation are 7 days a week 24 hours. The fire clearance was granted on 7/06/2023 by inspector Ashlin Wilbun

The single family home has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The daycare will consist of the living room, Bedroom 1, Bedroom 3 and Bedroom 4. These areas were inspected by LPA. The other bedrooms and rooms are considered off-limits and inaccessible. Applicant owns the home and provided control of property documentation.

The living room is used for daily activities which include circle time, watching TV and story time. Bedroom 1 is used for napping. Bedroom 3 is used for movies, music and napping. Bedroom 4 is used as the infant room. Mats will be used as napping equipment. The children will eat in the dining room area.

LPA inspected the bathroom and did not observe any medications or poisons that could pose a potential risk to children in care. The kitchen was inspected during the visit. LPA did not observe any knives or sharp objects, detergents or cleaning supplies that would pose a potential risk to children in care. These items were made inaccessible to the children. The cleaning supplies are stored in the laundry room.

Licensee stated the outside play area is in the front yard. The front yard is gated all around. LPA observed age appropriate toys and equipment in the outside play area. LPA did not observe any bodies of water.

LPA observed a charged fire extinguisher. The smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector are operable. Licensee has a first aid kit which includes band aids and a thermometer. The home has central air and heat.

Licensee has current CPR, first aid, health and safety which expires 05/2025. Licensee and assistants have mandated reporter training and immunizations on file.



There are no firearms on the premises. Licensee reports that there are 4 dogs on the premises but 2 are leaving.

The parent board will be posted for parents to view required information such as the license, parent's rights poster, personal rights, and emergency disaster plan. A copy of the children's roster will be kept accessible.

No corrections are needed.

A license to operate a Large Family child care home will be reviewed following final administrative review. No license will be issued today 07/13/2023.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

During the exit interview, the LICENSEE, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
