On 12/10/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Adrian Risher conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection for the preschool license. LPA met with Director Paige Solomon, and toured the facility indoors and outdoors. The days and hours of operation are 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday. LPA observed 4 children with 1 staff. LPA confirmed the facility phone number:323 477 3407 or 323 389 8152

The children were being properly supervised in the classrooms. The facility has 3 classrooms. LPA observed designated cubbies and age appropriate equipment in each classroom. LPA observed furniture and equipment are in good condition. The children use cots for napping. The isolation area is in the common area. LPA observed proper sign in/out documentation on the Brightwheel app.

LPA inspected the bathrooms located in the classrooms. The first bathroom has 2 toilets, 2 sinks and a changing table. The second bathroom has 1 sink and 1 toilet that are operating properly.

The kitchen area was inspected. Director stated the preschool provides breakfast, lunch and snacks to the children. The food and snacks are stored in the kitchen area.

There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. All poisons are kept in a locked storage area. Cleaning supplies are stored in the kitchen or a locked cabinet in the Pre-K 4 classroom. The facility does not store medication. LPA observed at least one carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors during inspection. LPA observed fire extinguisher in the facility. The facility has first aid kits and thermometers.

Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. LPA observed age-appropriate play equipment in the outside play area. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. The outside play area is safe and in good condition. The outside play area is in the back of the facility and it is gated all around. LPA observed a play apparatus, balls, picnic tables, and tricycles. The picnic tables are in a shaded area.

LPA completed file reviews for children and staff which were complete. LPA observed at least one staff with current cpr and pediatric first aid certification. Menus are posted at least one week in advance where an authorized representative can view them. LPA reviewed disaster and fire drill logs which were current.

No deficiencies are cited today.

Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for
drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP).

LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed facility representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee facility representative was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
