| There is a bathroom located in Room 1 for the younger students to use. The older children use the restroom that is located on the yard. LPA observed adequate toilets and sinks to accommodate the facility’s capacity. LPA observed the Toilets flushing properly. The toilet and sinks are reachable by the children in care. The restroom has adequate toilet paper and paper towels available. The bathroom was found to be clean.
The after school program provides snacks as well as the school. Food preparation area was toured for safety, cleanliness and proper equipment. Food and snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. A review of cleaning and food supply storage areas was made. First aid supplies are stored in the classroom.
There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. All poisons are kept in a locked storage area. Cleaning supplies are stored in a locked cabinet in the classroom. The facility has one or more functioning fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors that meet statutory requirements.
Outdoor equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. LPA observed the required shade, drinking water and fencing were inspected. The play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. The outdoor play area is located next to Room 1 and on the main playground on the school
LPA completed file reviews for children and staff. LPA observed more than one staff with current CPR and Pediatric first aid certification. Staff files were not accessible to LPA while conducting the inspection. Director stated the files are located at her home. LPA informed Director that the staff files need to be accessible to the LPA during the inspection. LPA reviewed disaster and fire drill logs which were current. LPA observed proper sign in/out documentation.
The facility is being cited for Type B under section code 101217 Personnel Records. Staff files were not made accessible to LPA during inspection. Refer to LIC809d
