25 | On 06/19/2024 at 2:04p.m. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA)Doris Whitmore conducted an unannounced visit for conducting a Case Management Inspection due to an incident that occurred on 05/29/2024 and was reported to the Regional Office. LPA met with Ivette Leon, Site Lead and informed the nature of the visit. At the time of the visit there was only 7 children and 2 teachers for Headstart. The EHS Classes last day was on 06/18/2024. The total number of staff present were 11.
According to the UIR Nubia Juarez received an anonymous text saying : I want to tell you that a lady in a black car, kinda fat, with black glasses and heels today was saying really ugly things about calling the cops on a teacher for yelling at her son. She kept saying tell me she hit you and I'm going to shut this school down. I'll kill your teacher if she did. She said it like 5 times and was screaming at the little boy she was pulling on him, and the little boy was just saying nothing. I dont want to cause problems but I think you should have the security make sure the teachers are safe and I'm actually scared for that parent to do something.
During the investigation LPA Whitmore interviewed the Assistant Director Amanda Velasquez. The Assistant Director and the Regional Site Director called the Gardena Police Department. On the next day an officer came to the school to take a police report. The next steps were that the Police Department would conduct extra patrol around the school. Since the incident nothing has not occurred at the school.
Based on the information obtained there were no violations of Title 22 Regulations.
No deficiencies cited
Copy of report and Notice of Site Visit was issued to Site Lead Ivette Leon |
