On 12/2/2022 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Jillinda Chandler conducted an announced 1 Year Annual Required Inspection and met with Licensee, Alicia Arce. LPA observed 3 children during todays inspection . Days and hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9:00am - 4:00pm. Adults living in the home are licensee and licensee's adult daughter, all adults in the home have criminal background clearances.

LPA toured the home inside and outside, day care operation is conducted in the living room area only, there are two bedrooms that are off limits, LPA observed these rooms to be locked and made inaccessible to children care. The home was clean and orderly. Per licensee there are no firearms or ammunition on the premises, LPA did not observe any weapons. LPA observed the lower kitchen cabinet containing detergents and cleaning compounds to be made inaccessible by latching, LPA informed licensee that the cabinet containing detergents and cleaning compound shall have a locking mechanism attached. The heater located in living area was barricaded and inaccessible to children in care. There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector present. The home had adequate heating and ventilation. Safe toys and play equipment were observed. There were 2 infant aged children in care, LPA discussed Safe Sleep Regulations with licensee

LPA reviewed the children’s files and observed files were complete with emergency information as required. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter Training was observed expiring 8/18/23. Licensee’s pediatric CPR/First Aid expires on 06/29/23. Per licensee she did not have immunization records readily available.

The outdoors area was inspected LPA observed toys and equipment in good repair. The home has an above ground pool, the pool was fully gated with an 5 foot or taller meshed gate with a self latching gate. The pool was drained and the latter had been removed and placed away from the pool. LPA observed a locked room in the rear of the home, per licensee this was the laundry room. LPA did not observe any hazardous conditions in this area.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep web page at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource.

LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
