On 2/23/2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jillinda Chandler made an unannounced visit to the Inglewood USD-Worthington State Pre-School for the purpose of conducting a " Required One Year Annual" inspection. The pre-school operates on the Worthington Elementary School Campus. Pre-school operations are conducted in Room 23, Monday - Friday, from 8:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Per lead teacher Green, The adjoining classroom is not in operation at the time of the inspection. Upon arrival there were 10 children being supervised by lead teacher Deatrice Green and two Instructional aides; Lucious Monroe and Yemmy Palacio. LPA inspected the class room for Health and Safety compliance per Title 22.

THE FOLLOWING WAS OBSERVED

The floor in the classroom was observed to be in good condition all rugs and floors were clean. Age appropriate toys, furniture and equipment were observed to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts.
Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other items that are dangerous to children, were in locked cabinets, inaccessible to children.
Trash cans in the classroom had tight fitting lids.
Drinking water is readily available both indoors and outdoors.
Children have individual cubbies to store their personal belongings
LPA observed a refrigerator in the classroom for storage of medication in need of refrigeration, there was a locked cabinet for storage of other medications.
The rooms temperature was set at a comfortable temperature; 65 degrees.
Menus and required posting were observed in a prominent area for review, meals are delivered from the districts main kitchen.

LPA observed a first aide kit with the required essentials: scissors, tweezers, ointments, bandages and a thermometer.
LPA did not observe napping equipment at the facility, per Lead Teacher children do not nap in this program.
The isolation area is located in the elementary school nurse's office.
Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected and observed in operable condition (the classroom shares the restroom with the adjoining classroom).
Outdoor playground equipment is in a safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment and similar equipment are equipped with resilient cushioning and adequate shading and benches for resting.

FACILITY RECORDS
Staff files were delivered for review from the district office.
All individuals present have obtained a criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption through the Inglewood Unified School District.
There is at least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid present during this visit. Educational background, training, and/or experience for each staff present was on file and were reviewed.
A review of children’s files, found the records to be complete and up-to-date .

Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource.

LPA also informed facility representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
