32 | There were no fixtures, furniture, and equipment that have been banned or recalled by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. Licensee provides filtered water for each child. Licensee provides cups which are labeled with each child's name. Licensee provides all daily meals for children as well. First aid kit and fire extinguisher are located in the dining area. LPA observed the home was clean and orderly, with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. Cots were observed for napping. Parents provide sheets for napping and are sent home at the end of the week to be cleaned.
There is a stand alone carbon monoxide detector and smoke detector in the day care room; LPA tested them and they were operable. Licensee's fire extinguisher, size 2A10BC was recently serviced. LPA advised that the fire extinguisher must be serviced annually or after it has been used. LPA observed there were no defects or conditions which might endanger the children. All electrical outlets in the home were observed to have outlet covers. LPA observed there were no poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and other items which could pose a danger accessible to children. Per Licensee, there are no pets, weapons or firearms of any kind in the facility currently. Licensee states that when a child shows signs of illness, they are separated from other children until parents pick them up. The Isolation area is on a cot in the dining room area. Children's files and staff files were reviewed and complete.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
