On 11/08/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tyra Chavies, conducted an unannounced year Annual/ Required at First Friends by the sea Preschool. LPAs met with Licensee/Director, Tracie West ,and toured the facility indoors and outdoors. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 to 5:00 PM. LPA Chavies confirmed the phone number is: 310-227-9613. There were 13 children in care being supervised by 2 Staff members.

LPA Chavies toured the facility indoors and outdoors. Indoor furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose and/or pointed parts, indoor facility does have a wooden play structure, LPA Chavies did inform licensee that the structure will need playground floor material due to the hard flooring. The facility floors, bathrooms and classrooms meet Title 22 Health and Safety regulations. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. The facility does have a 2A10BC fire extinguisher. Facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide detector and a fire detector.

AM/PM snacks are provided by the center as well as breakfast and lunch. There are no bodies of water on the premises. There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. All poisons are kept in a locked storage area.

Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic free. The facility is free of flies and insects.

CHILDREN'S RECORDS: LPA Chavies reviewed 6 children's files. All files are up to date and are in good condition.

STAFF'S RECORDS: LPA Chavies reviewed 2 staff files. All staff records are update and in good condition.

· Individuals who are 18 years of age or older must obtain a criminal record clearance. Individuals within one month of their 18th birthday must be fingerprinted immediately. Failure to obtain a criminal record background check clearances prior to initial presence in the facility will result in an immediate $500.00 dollar civil penalty and $100.00 more per day until licensee is in compliance.

Commencing September 1st, 2016, prohibits a person from being employed or volunteering at a childcare facility or family day care if he or she has not been immunized against influenza, pertussis and measles.

· New Immunization Requirement: Law enacted by SB 277, beginning January 1st, 2016, personal beliefs exemptions will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into childcare or school in California. Personal beliefs exemptions already on file will remain valid until the child reaches the next immunization checkpoint.

· New Appeal Process: A licensee may file an appeal, in writing 15 business days from the date of receiving the penalty assessment.

The licensee, was informed of the responsibility to report suspected Child Abuse by calling the Child Abuse Hot line at 1-800-540-4000. Licensee was informed to call the CCL office and follow up with a written Unusual Incident/Injury Report (LIC 624B). Licensee was informed that licensee/ any employee is to call CCL office and file an Unusual Incident Report when a child is injured at the facility. Also, Licensee was informed to send in written form (LIC 624B) to CCL Office within 7 business days.

· No smoking, No infant walkers, No Johnny jumpers, No saucer chairs, No trampolines and any other item that falls into that category are not permitted in the facility.
