32 | There are 2 play yards; the front yard is used for preschool children and the rear yard is designated for toddlers. Both areas were observed to be free of debris. There are areas for shade and rest on both yards. Drinking water is available. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. Playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. LPA observed the areas around and under high climbing equipment and slide to be with wood chips. The toddler outdoor area located behind Toddler room with access from the toddler room.
Facility provides am and pm snacks and children bring lunch from home. The facility does not have a kitchen. Bloomers room was observed with a counter area used for preparation of snack. Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. LPA observed water pitcher and dispensers in all classrooms and in all play areas.
Prescription and non-prescription medication is administered by the director, who documents the date, time and dosage onto a log. Medications are stored securely and inaccessible to children in the director's office which has a refrigerator if needed.
The facility is equipped with a working smoke/Carbon Monoxide detectors. LPA observed three fire extinguishers (3A 40BC) located throughout the facility with service date of 07/26/2024. First Aid Kit was observed to be complete. Fire Drill log was observed to be complete and current.
The facility has sufficient cots for napping. Each cot is occupied by only one child at time. CPR, Pediatric First Aid (completed on 10/23/2023), and Mandated Reporter Training certificates ( completed on 09/04/2024) were observed to be current. The name of the child care center director or fully qualified teacher designated to act in the director’s absence has been reported to the Department. LPA reviewed a sample of staff files and observed files were complete. LPA reviewed a sample of children files and observed files were complete (sleep logs on files for toddlers under 2 years). The children's roster was available and current.
LPA Garibyan observed the following postings located in room 4 and office area near room 2. The license, LIC 613A (9/96), the PUB 393 (8/02), Child Care Center Notification of Parents' Rights Poster, LIC 610 Emergency Disaster Plan with the telephone number of the local health department, information on child passenger restraint systems, and a contingency plan for action during fires, floods and earthquakes.
Menu is in writing and posted at least one week in advance in Bloomers room and in the office. Per Director menus are provided to families with the monthly newsletters and within enrollment packet. LPA advised copies of the menus as served shall be dated and kept on file for at least 30 days. Page 2 of 4
