| Adequate heating and ventilation were present throughout all licensed areas. Age-appropriate toys and equipment were available and in good condition. The home maintains a working telephone.
Licensee confirmed the home does not provide meals, only snacks. Per Licensee parents assure they provide the meals and snacks for their children, which comply with dietary restrictions and allergies. LPA discussed the importance of maintaining a system where allergies and food restrictions are noted.
No firearms or ammunition are stored on the premises. Detergents and cleaning compounds are stored under the kitchen sink cabinet, secured with a safety latch.
LPA observed a working smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide detector in the home. LPA also observed a working fire extinguisher located near the kitchen area and the back exit door. LPA reminded the licensee to maintain proof of an annual service for the fire extinguisher.
The licensee confirmed that the home is prepared to accept a child who may require medication; however, no children currently in care require medication.
The Licensee ensures that children are supervised at all times and understands that children must never be left in parked vehicles. Car seats are used only for transportation and not for sleeping.
LPA reviewed three personnel files and found them complete. Mandated Reporter Training and Pediatric CPR/Pediatric First Aid certifications were current. LPA reminded the licensee of the importance of ensuring that all vendors providing Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid training are EMSA-approved.
LPA reviewed five children's files and found them to complete.
The Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 years and older living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers (except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871), must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer an existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in the home. Failure to comply will result in a civil penalty of $100 per day, per person, for up to 5 days—or up to 30 days for repeat violations.
