25 | On 9/20/2022 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Judy Laureano conducted an announced inspection with applicant Melissa Azose for the purpose of an inspection of 1501 S. Canfield Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90035. The purpose of this inspection is to ensure the standards for a Family Child Care Home are being met in accordance to California Tittle 22 Regulations and California Health and Safety Codes.
The applicant is applying for a Large Family Child Care license with a max capacity of 14. Rental Agreement and Landlord Notification is currently on file. Applicant lives alone in the home, 4 minor children stay with applicant on occasion.
Per the application, currently, the ages the applicant wishes to provide services for children 2 years old to 6 years of age with the hours of operation of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Monday through Friday. Applicant was informed that any changes to ages, hours and days of operation shall be submitted to the department for approval prior to initiation of changes.
The home is a duplex unit, upstairs and downstairs units. Unit upstairs does not have access to the back yard during the hours of operations. The unit has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, ½ bathroom, laundry room, kitchen, dining room and living around. The back yard is enclosed, and detached garage was observed. Garage is OFF LIMITS to the children in care and applicant confirmed that door will remain closed during hours of operations.
Parents will access the home through the side door gate and occasionally will enter through the front door. Entering the side gate you are guided to the back yard. The back yard was observed to be covered with artificial turf and have two areas where children are able to play. LPA observed a variety of outdoor equipment such as swings, plastic slides and outdoor children's cars. The area was observed to have a covered sandbox and applicant stated sand is changed every 6 months.
