Changing tables within arm's reach of a sink, sinks, potty training chairs and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair. The feeding tables, changing tables, napping equipment placement, swings, bedding and storage areas were reviewed for safety. Water temperature, toilet paper, paper towels, area safety and sanitation were inspected.
There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other hazardous items are made inaccessible locked in the classroom cabinet.
Facility enrolls children that might need Incidental medical services. Medication if needed, is stored outside the classroom, inaccessible to the children in care. LPA observed all necessary Community Care Licensing forms, CCL, stored with the medication.
No poisons were observed during the inspection.
Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All toilets and handwashing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Floors in the facility are clean and safe.
Families are responsible for ensuring meals are brought to facility in appropriate lunch boxes/bags (e.g. ice packs and/or thermos). Facility contracts with an outside vendor to provide meals and snacks in case families are interested in contracting services. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors.
Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. Areas around high climbing equipment, such as slides have cushioning material to absorb falls.
The facility is free of flies, insects and rodents. There is a working carbon monoxide detector, centralize sprinkler system and working fire extinguishers throughout the facility.
Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained.
At least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid is present when children are at the facility or at offsite activities. Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid training was reviewed by LPA; all staff was observed with current certification. LPA discussed the importance of making sure all Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid training is EMSA approved.
