On 07/18/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Adrian Risher conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection for the preschool license. LPA met with Assistant Director, Viviana Salas-Robles, and toured the facility indoors and outdoors. The Director Madison Sanello arrived around 10:15am while LPA was conducting file reviews. The days and hours of operation are 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. LPA observed 15 children in care with 3 staff. LPA confirmed the facility phone number:747 577 0042 and 310 376 7088.

LPA inspected the preschool classrooms. LPA observed designated backpacks which are used as their cubbies in each classroom. The 2-3 year old are in the Blue room. The 3 to 4 year olds are in the Yellow room. The 4-5 year olds are in the Orange room. LPA observed cots that are used for napping. The isolation area is located in office. The capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained. The space was found to be clean and free from any potential hazards. The furniture was found to be in good repair and age appropriate. Drinking water is available to the children in the classroom. Staff use a water jug

and the children have their own bottles which are labeled. LPA observed a safety gate at the bottom of the stairs located in the middle of the Blue room downstairs.

LPA inspected the bathrooms located downstairs. LPA observed adequate toilets and sinks to accommodate the facility’s capacity. LPA observed the toilets flushing properly. The toilet and sinks are reachable by the children in care. The restroom has adequate toilet paper and paper towels available. The bathroom was found to be clean. There is adequate lighting/ventilation in the bathroom area.

The facility provides AM and PM snacks. The children bring their own lunch from home. LPA observed a menu posted on the parent board. Food preparation area was toured for safety, cleanliness and proper equipment. Food and snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. A review of cleaning and food supply storage areas was made.

There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. All poisons are kept in a locked storage area. Cleaning supplies and medications are stored in a locked cabinet in the staff bathroom. The facility has one or more functioning fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors that meet statutory requirements.

Outdoor equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. LPA observed the required shade, drinking water and fencing were inspected. The play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. The outdoor play area is located in front of the building. The facility has additional play space outside in the My GYM area on the upper level of the preschool. The children work on gross motor skills and MY GYM provides curriculum.

LPA completed file reviews for children and staff. LPA observed more than one staff with current CPR and Pediatric first aid certification. LPA reviewed disaster and fire drill logs which were current. LPA observed proper sign in/out documentation.

Center shall devise an Incidental Medical Service (IMS) plan and provide to parents of children with allergies (epi-pen), asthmatic (inhalers), and children needing G-tube feeding. IMS was discussed with the directors.

No deficiencies are cited today.

Facility Representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for
drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP).
LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchasedequipment

administrative records.
