The bathroom that children will use is across the living room space. LPA observed the shower, toilet and sink area. Applicant was reminded that all toiletries need to be made inaccessible during the hours of operations and/or while children are present.
Next to the bathroom, LPA observed bedroom 2 that will be use in case children are ill.
LPA also observed child gates installed making the kitchen area inaccessible to children in care. Chemicals, cleaning supplies, and poisons are kept in the laundry room are inaccessible to children.
Dinning room and kitchen area were observed and inspected. Licensee confirmed home will be providing meals and snacks. LPA discussed the importance of making sure a system is in place where dietary restrictions and allergies are noted. LPAs encouraged applicant to contact their local resource and referral agency, Connections for Children, to inquire about local Food Programs and other resources in the community.
A working fire extinguisher was observed inside the kitchen area. Working smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector were observed in the home.
The back yard shall be made accessible to day care children for outdoor activities. LPA observed the back yard and observed area to be free of hazard. All areas of the home were inspected according to the LIC 999A- facility sketch.
There are no firearms or ammunitions on the premises. No pools or bodies of water were observed on the premises.
LPA discussed Safe Sleep Regulations and resources with applicant. There is one crib or play yard for each infant in care, cribs and play yards are kept free from all loose articles and objects while infants are sleeping, and there are no objects hanging above or attached to the crib or play yard. All cribs or play yards shall meet the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission safety standards. Infants are not swaddled while in care. Provider physically checks on sleeping infants every fifteen minutes and documents any signs of distress which includes but is not limited to flushed skin color, increase in body temperature, restlessness and labored breathing. Infants can be visually observed through an open door if sleeping in a separate room. Individual Infant Sleeping Plan will need to be completed and in file for each infant up to 12 months of age. Infants up to 12 months of age are placed on their backs for sleeping.
